Heart disease and stroke is the #1 killer of women! We must change the perception that heart disease is a "man's disease." By teaching more and more women how to talk to their doctors about heart disease, we can save thousands of lives every year. Because the good news is that heart disease is often preventable!

And in case anyone still believes that heart disease is only a concern for "someone else", we encourage you to hear the inspiring stories of a few of Portland's GORED Ambassadors. They make the case plain and simple: the time for action is now!

Meet Dr. Sandra Lewis

Recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors for Women, Sandra is a trailblazer on the subject of the woman's heart, conducting research since 1986!

Sandra's story will energize you! What an accomplished life! A huge career, a successful 40 year marriage and 2 daughters following their parents into medicine...how has she done it??? What were/are her goals, her obstacles, and what has she learned along the way??

Meet Kathy Ryan
Kathy was in peak physical condition going into her 17th Hood to Coast Relay. At 66 years old, she was an accomplished athlete, already completing 75 marathons in 45 different states. In the third leg of the relay, Kathy suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. While lying on the pavement, two runners from another team jumped out of their van and immediately began CPR. After 8 minutes, Kathy finally took in air on her own. After being rushed to a nearby hospital, she underwent triple bypass surgery. Unwilling to be defeated by the #1 killer of women, Kathy is already back training and plans to complete her quest to run a marathon in every state.

Don't miss this very special Speaker Series event!!
